St Davids Diocesan Guild of Bellringers was formed in 1945 as a breakaway from the Swansea and Brecon Guild. Our aim, as with many Guilds, is to keep the bells of the St Davids Diocese ringing and to provide bells to call people to church services. Not all of our towers have a local band but we are proud that many of our towers are actively seeking new members and endeavouring to teach existing members new methods. We try to encourage all members to attend Guild practices where they may be able to ring methods beyond the scope of their local band.
Although we cover a large geographical area St Davids must have a claim to being one of the smallest territorial guilds in the UK. We have only 14 ringable towers, excluding the 3 and 4 bells towers ( I hope to add a page about these later). We have some keen ringers and arguably some of the finest rings of bells. However, like many guilds, we often struggle to find enough ringers. Many of you reading this will be travelling to west Wales for holidays or to visit relatives, please come and join us for ringing. If there are no contact details for a particular tower then contact the ringing master, Chris Tough, who will be happy to supply details to visiting ringers. Please mark any e-mails "bellringing" or they may be consigned to the trash with the offers of extensions!
